Newcastle To Refrain From Signing Useless Free Agents
Newcastle United with all their problems, are not to sign even the free agents, declared interim boss Joe Kinnear.
The Magpies are currently occupying the 18th position in the Premiership after scoring just five points from their opening seven games of the season.
However, the former Wimbledon manager believes he has the players at his disposal in the squad to improve the Tyneside club’s standing, despite forwards - Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka and Alan Smith having injury problems.
Kinnear told the Newcastle Chronicle: “I have had a long look at Uefa’s list of players who are out of contract and available to join other clubs.
“It is actually a massive list.
“It is full of players who have only played two games for their clubs, and they are not the sort of players I want for Newcastle United.
“Those types of players are not going to improve us and, to tell the truth, I already have better players here – even those who are on the fringe of the first-team.”
