Newcastle Linked With West Ham’s Ashton, Liverpool’s Riise & Chelsea’s Bridge
Reports in British press have suggested that Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan is interested in West Ham United striker Dean Ashton, Liverpool full-back John Arne Riise and Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge.
Keegan is looking to reinforce the Toon squad and with club owner Mike Ashley’s backing, has identified his targets, according to the latest reports.
Ashton is a powerful forward for the Hammers but recently there was speculation of a fall out with manager Alan Curbishley. However, the 24-year-old injury-prone striker is apparently in Keegan’s wishlist, as such the Toon boss is linked with an initial offer of £7 million to test the Londoners’ resolve.
Norway international, Riise has played bit-part role for the Reds due to Rafa Benitez’s rotation policy at Anfield. However, the left-sided player has maintained he is keen to stay at the Merseyside club. He has also been linked with Aston Villa.
According to Daily Mirror, The Toon are planning to launch an initial bid of £6.5m for the 27-year-old.
