Newcastle United are reportedly considering joining the hunt for Cameroon midfielder Stephane Mbia, who is also interesting Arsenal and Everton.

The 22-year-old currently plies his trade at Rennes, but is keen to move to Everton. However, the French club are determined to keep him.

The Sunderland Echo reports that the Magpies are weighing up a bid for Geremi's compatriot Mbia, but adds that the valuation of the defensive midfielder could scupper Kevin Keegan's hopes of signing him.

The Toffees have reportedly failed with their bid of £6m for Mbia, while the Gunners could now make their offer as their target - Udinese's Switzerland international Gokhan Inler, who is also linked with Newcastle, has decided to stay in Italy.
