The remaining hours in the ongoing transfer window could see Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United busy as reports suggest they are keen on Brazilian defender Alvaro, who is also looking for a move to the Tyneside, Czech midfielder Lubos Kalouda from Brno, and still hope to sign Derby's Giles Barnes despite having their verbal offer rejected by the Rams.

The Toon are reportedly in battle with Birmingham for Levante centre-half Alvaro, who is nevertheless eyeing a move to the Premiership.

"It's incredible - on the same day two English clubs are fighting over me," Alvaro is quoted as saying in The Mirror

"Levante have the final say but going to Newcastle is perfect. To play in the Premier League will be sensational."

The Toon are reportedly competing with Juventus for Kalouda, 20, while Tottenham and West Ham are also linked with the Magpies-target, highly rated England youth international midfielder Barnes.
