Newcastle Boss Sam Allardyce Set For Transfer Market Foray After Injuries To Carr & Ramage At Boro
Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce is all set to go back into the transfer market before the window closes August 31 after right-back duo Stephen Carr and Peter Ramage have been hit by injuries in the 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Carr is reportedly likely to be on the sidelines for six weeks after sustaining a hamstring strain, while 23-year old Ramage with a suspected knee ligaments damage is out for longer duration.
Allardyce said: "I am well short now defensively, which is where my biggest problems have been all summer.
"With the transfer window shutting, we'll have to have a good look around."
The Toon boss also revealed that the draw felt like a loss due to the injury misfortune in the same match.
"That (injuries), on top of not winning made me feel like we lost rather than drew.
"It's typical, you always seem to get injuries where you are short.
"We are short in that area and we picked up not just one, but two injuries, and certainly one looks quite serious.
"We will have to deal with those situations and see whether that takes us into the market on a more ferocious basis this week, which it might have to."
