Newcastle Boss Keegan Claims Chelsea As Exceptional As Man United, But Says United Will Win Title, Hails Ronaldo
Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan has claimed Chelsea have been exceptional this season along with Manchester United, but believes that the Red Devils will retain the Premiership title.
With one game left to play, the Blues are level on points with United, who are top of the table with a superior goal-difference.
Keegan, whose side lost to Chelsea 2-0 yesterday, said in the Daily Mail: “Chelsea would be worthy champions, but I don't think they will be.
"In any other season, you usually have one exceptional side, this year I think you've got two.
“You've got to give Chelsea some credit. I think they are a better team than everyone's given them credit for.
“They have a very, very strong squad, with people all around the place who could better every other club bar one in the top four.”
Keegan singled out United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who was won PFA and PWA player of the year accolades for the season, for special mention.
“I think United will be champions because one player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has had such an outstanding season and that, along with the other great players, just gives them the edge.
"I can't see them going to Wigan, despite the pitch, and not winning.”
