Newcastle & Man City Eye Porto’s Alves - Reports

According to reports, Newcastle United and Manchester City are keeping a close watch on Porto defender Bruno Alves.

The 26-year-old £23million-rated centre-half, is however, tied up with the Portuguese Liga champions until 2012.

His agent and father, Washington Alves said: "Porto is not interested in a sale right now, but anything is possible after Euro 2008.

"Bruno is playing very well. A number of European clubs have asked about his contract situation."

The Portugal international added: "I am flattered by the reports but I have signed a deal with Porto, which complicates an exit.

"The club would only study an offer for me if the fee was of grand proportions."
