Defensive midfielder Momo Sissoko timed his first competitive goal for Liverpool to perfection as he entered the history books with his cracking strike that also opened the scoring in the 2-0 Premiership win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Mali international, who had joined the Reds in 2005, was the most unlikely source to score but when set up by an assist from Andriy Voronin, drilled in a low shot with a diving Craig Gordon having no chance to stop the ball from entering the nets.
Boss Rafa Benitez revealed after the match that Momo had scored the 7,000th goal for the Reds.
"It was special for Momo to score our 7,000th goal and he's now in the record books,” said Rafa.
