Middlesbrough’s Aliadiere: Celtic’s McGeady, The Type Of Player Arsenal Boss Wenger Likes

Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Sunderland Premiership Transfer News

Former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere has hailed Celtic winger Aiden McGeady as a ‘quality player, the type of player (Gunners boss) Arsene Wenger likes.’

The 22-year-old had an outstanding 2007-08 season as the Scottish giants clinched their third consecutive SPL title.

With several Premiership sides having noticed the talented Republic of Ireland international, Aliadiere, who plays for Middlesbrough, believes McGeady can shine in the English game.

Newcastle United and Sunderland are linked with McGeady, who however is determined to stay with the Bhoys having recently signed a new five-year deal, but Aliadiere feels the Gunners could easily be his destination.

Aliadiere, who knows McGeady from his short stint at Parkhead in 2005, said in the Sunday Mail: "When I was at Celtic Aiden wasn't starting games all the time and wasn't a regular pick.

"But he is now involved every week and doing well at a high level. I watched him last season playing in the Champions League and he is a quality player."

"He has the talent to make an impact in the Premiership and could go on to star for a big club in England - Aiden is the type of player Arsene Wenger likes," the 25-year-old Frenchman added.

"But I also see Celtic as a big club and it must be great for Aiden and the other players to know they have Champions League football every season."
