Middlesbrough, Fulham & Aston Villa In Race For EURO 2008 Star Leko

Middlesbrough, Fulham, Aston Villa Premiership Transfer News

Middlesbrough, Fulham and Aston Villa are all in the chase to sign AS Monaco’s Croatian International Jerko Leko, according to reports.

28-year-old Leko joined Monaco from Dynamo Kiev in 2006 and had been originally linked with a move to SPL giants Celtic, even going as far as asking compatriot Dado Prso at Rangers what it was like in Glasgow.

Fulham, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa have all made enquiries about the availability of Leko, with the midfielder’s agent Damir Josic touting his client before EURO 2008.

Although the Croatian is keen on a move away from the Stade Louis II, Leko is seeking a club that can provide Champions League football, which could prove to be the Achilles heel in any deal for the Premiership trio, with Les Rouge et Blanc reluctant to let Leko leave the French club.
