Match Preview – West Ham v Liverpool – Ashton & Etherington Boost For Hammers – Stars Back For The Reds
Alan Curbishley’s West Ham United will take on Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool in the Premiership at Upton Park on Wednesday night.
Striker Dean Ashton (back) and winger Matthew Etherington (knee) will boost the home side as they are fit but winger Julian Faubert (calf) is doubtful.
The Hammers have quite a few injury problems with former Reds forward Craig Bellamy, who has been back in training and has played in a reserves game after his three-month spell out with abdominal injury, being doubtful to play against his old club.
Bobby Zamora (knee), Nolberto Solano (hamstring) and Danny Gabbidon (groin) are also back in training but are unlikely to be rushed back.
James Collins (knee), Scott Parker (knee), Kieron Dyer (leg), Nigel Quashie (foot) and Calum Davenport (neck) are unavailable.
Reds boss Benitez will be keen to see his side get a win under their belt to bring their Premiership campaign back on track after seeing their last four games end in draw.
The Reds meanwhile, are expected to be at their strongest as captain Steven Gerrard, Jose Reina, Jamie Carragher, Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso, who were all rested for Saturday's FA Cup win over Havant & Waterlooville, being restored to the side.
However, Andriy Voronin and Daniel Agger are out injured.
