Match Preview: Tottenham v Liverpool – Spurs & Reds Looking For Grandstand Finish – Lennon Doubt – Plessis & Insua Could Start
An exciting contest is on the cards when Juande Ramos’ Tottenham Hotspur take on Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool on the final day of the season at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Both the managers are looking to culminate their season on a high and build for the next season with Ramos wanting his side to challenge for top-four finish while his fellow Spaniard, Benitez is keen for the Reds to mount a title challenge.
Spurs could get a top-half finish if they beat the Reds tomorrow and see West Ham United fail to do so against Aston Villa. On the other hand, the Reds are set to finish fourth regardless of tomorrow’s outcome.
The two sides had produced an entertaining contest in the reverse fixture in October and it was Reds' 32-goal striker Fernando Torres, who scored in the final minute to snatch a 2-2 draw.
The north-London club are without goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who has aggravated an ankle injury. Aaron Lennon (knee) is doubtful, but Dimitar Berbatov and Teemu Tainio have provided a boost after groin and Achilles complaint respectively.
Liverpool boss Benitez could give young reserves Damien Plessis and Emiliano Insua another opportunity. Peter Crouch, John Arne Riise and Jermaine Pennant could also get starts with their futures reportedly uncertain at Anfield.
