Man United Meet Newcastle, Arsenal Host West Brom; Chelsea Face Portsmouth - Liverpool Take On Sunderland On Opening Day

Defending champions Manchester United are due to face Newcastle United at Old Trafford in their opening Premier League game of the 2008-09 season.

On the same day, Luiz Felipe Scolari will begin his regime as the new Chelsea boss at Stamford Bridge when his side face FA Cup champs Portsmouth.

Amongst the newly promoted sides this season, West Brom have the toughest fixture, as they are pitted against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and that too at the Emirates Stadium.

While other new entrants, Stoke City will have to make the trip to Bolton whereas Hull City will play host to Fulham on home turf.

Mark Hughes will be taking his side Manchester City to Aston Villa while his former club Blackburn will have to face Everton at Goodison Park.
