Manchester City Favourites To Land EURO 2008 Star Kazim-Richards
Premier League club Manchester City are the front-runners to sign EURO 2008 star Colin Kazim-Richards from Turkish side Fenerbahce , with Serie A club SS Lazio reportedly also tracking the right winger.
Turkish International Kazim-Richards is valued at around £4million (€5m) by Fenerbahce, and had previously been linked with a move to Premiership debutantes Hull City, but reports suggested that this was too much for the Tigers budget.
New City manager Mark Hughes has already instructed his backroom staff to make a full report on Kazim-Richards, who has made the transistion of plying his trade with Bury in the English lower leagues only three years ago, to playing in the Champions League with the Sari kanaryalar last season.
The 21-year-old midfielder’s performances during EURO 2008 in helping Turkey reach the Semi-Finals, brought him to the attention of Hughes, with it being reported he is ready to offer Kazim-Richards a £35,000 a week deal to bring him to the Eastlands Stadium.
Fenerbahce would ideally like to keep one of their main players, but are unlikely to turn down an offer in the region of £4million from City, for a player they only paid £1.25million for from Sheffield United a year ago.
