United's Ferdinand Happy To Collect Point Against Tottenham But Feels Berbatov Goal Was Wrong
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed his joy at seeing his side snatch a point away at White Hart Lane in their Premiership clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The English international however stressed that the goal scored by Spurs should not have been counted.
Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov, who was in the thick of action in yesterday’s encounter, guided home the ball after being set up by Aaron Lennon. However Jermaine Jenas initially seemed to have handled the ball before rolling the ball towards Lennon.
Ferdinand told MUTV: "I think they were a bit fortunate with their goal.
"I was behind it and I could see Jenas lying on the floor handling it. That's why I remonstrated with the linesman – how he didn't see it, I'll never know."
The Red Devils put up a rather poor display at the White Hart Lane and had it not been for Carlos Tevez’s goal deep into the stoppage time, they would find themselves three points behind league toppers Arsenal.
Ferdinand continued: "I remember going up for the corner and the referee said to me '30 seconds left', so I knew it was last-chance saloon.
"Luckily the ball in was good from Nani and Carlos was there to slot it home.
"We knew we had to come here and work hard. You need spirit if you want to win things and we showed that."
