Man United’s Rooney Doubtful, Vidic Set For Wigan Clash – Ferguson Confident Rooney Will Be Fit For Champions League Final

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is doubtful for Sunday's final game of the Premiership at Wigan, but will be fit for the Champions League final with Chelsea on May 21, according to manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The England striker has struggled to recover from his hip problem after suffering a recurrence of the injury in the league meeting against the Blues last month, and has missed the last two games including the victory over Barcelona.

"I am not so sure about Wayne," said Ferguson in the Manchester Evening News.

"Maybe I will have him as a substitute on Sunday. But he will certainly be fit for the Champions League final."

Defender Nemanja Vidic, who suffered concussion at Stamford Bridge, is however, in line to make his comeback after missing the last two games.

"We are very hopeful of Nemanja being fit," said Fergie.

"He is clear medically, so the next two training sessions will be very important.

"But he is much better and hopefully I can get him right for Sunday."
