Man United’s Ronaldo ‘Has 90% Chance To Win’ Ballon d’Or
Fenerbahce left-back Roberto Carlos believes Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo should win the Ballon d’Or.
The Portuguese excelled for the Red Devils last season scoring a whopping 42 goals in all competitions as he played a key role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side winning the Premiership and Champions League double.
The 23-year-old, however, failed to impress with his country at the summer’s European Championship in Austria and Switzerland. He will have stiff competition for the European Footballer of the Year award mostly from Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi. The award will be announced in November.
Brazil legend Roberto Carlos told Globo: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. He slipped up a bit during the European Championship but I think it’s Portugal’s error, they didn’t allow him play well.
“Besides he is an attacker, which is an asset to win such a prize. To me he has 90% chance to win it.”
