Man United Boss Ferguson Hopeful On Rooney & Vidic For Wigan Clash – Nani Suspended For Trip To JJB
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful over the availability of Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney in the final Premiership game of the season at Wigan on Sunday.
Serbian defender Vidic had taken a blow to his face and suffered concussion, while England striker Rooney had a hip problem, during the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea late last month. The duo missed the wins over Barcelona and West Ham.
"I think Vidic has a good chance," Ferguson told MUTV.
"Wayne is improving all the time. He was in the squad for the West Ham game, but we just felt it was too early. We'll do our best to get him fit for next Sunday."
Portuguese winger Nani will miss the trip to the JJB Stadium, as he will be suspended due to the red card he picked against the Hammers. He will also miss the first two games of the next season as he completes the three-match ban for violent conduct.
Ferguson said: “The game was marred by the immaturity of Nani.
“He bought the challenge from their player and retaliated. He will learn from that.
“I don’t think the referee had any option. It was the linesman’s say-so anyway. The linesman saw it clearly.
“Nani has retaliated and will now miss the Wigan game and the first two of next season. We will deal with it.”
