Man United Boss Ferguson Happy With The Squad, No Move For Tottenham’s Berbatov Or Blackburn’s Santa Cruz?

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his happiness with the squad he has, meaning he is unlikely to sign any new player before the summer transfer window closes.

The Red Devils had earlier in the summer, been beaten by rivals Arsenal to the signing of highly-rated midfielder Aaron Ramsey; and have been linked with a move for long-time target Dimitar Berbatov of Tottenham. Others linked to United this summer included Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz, Valencia’s David Villa and Lyon’s Karim Benzema as it was believed that Ferguson will at least bring in a forward after having been frustrated by injury-prone Louis Saha.

However, the Scot seems content with the playing personnel at his disposal, and with star winger Cristiano Ronaldo to stay, is boosted ahead of the domestic as well as European title-defending campaign.

"We still have not brought in the kind of top-quality player everyone seems to be expecting," Ferguson said.

"We might well start 2008-09 with largely the squad we had last season, and after all, they didn't do too badly!

"We have the right balance of youth and experience, thanks to the work we did in the transfer market the previous year.

"So I think we already have the men for the job."
