Man United Boss Ferguson Claims Rooney & Vidic Could Play Against West Ham – Evra Adds To Injury Concerns

Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic could both be fit for Saturday's Premiership clash with West Ham United, according to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

England striker Rooney (hip) and Serbian centre-back Vidic (head) suffered injury problems during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to title rivals Chelsea, and missed yesterday’s 1-0 Champions League semi-final success over Barcelona.

On Rooney, Ferguson said: "He may have a chance for Saturday.

"We just cancelled him out yesterday, he was in a lot of pain. It was his hip joint, he was never close to playing. It was out of the question.

"He will be a lot better in a few days and involved on Saturday somewhere along the line."

"Vidic is under the control of the doctor," added Ferguson.

"He got a bit of concussion, so we have to be careful of that. He may have a chance for Saturday."

Left-back Patrice Evra added to the Red Devils’ injury concerns after being stretchered off with a blow to his face in the closing stages against Barcelona.
