According to Diego Herrera, Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing Wigan Athletic midfielder Antonio Valencia.

The 22-year-old Ecuador international has been recently permanently signed by the Latics after initially bringing him to the JJB Stadium on loan from Villarreal in the summer of 2006.

After his impressive performances for Steve Bruce’s side, speculation was rife that United and Liverpool are keeping a close watch on the versatile winger, and his agent has now claimed that there are more clubs interested.

He told El Comercio newspaper: "It is impossible to stop the improvement in a player's career when Manchester and Liverpool are in the middle.

"They have been following him for the past months. There are also two more teams interested.

"But he will not come cheap. Last week, Bruce commented £5million was not enough for the player."
