Man City Join Chelsea In Chase For Real Madrid & Brazil Star Robinho If Deal Fails With Spurs For Berbatov
Latest reports from Spain indicate that Manchester City have now joined Chelsea in the chase for Brazilian striker Robinho, with Real Madrid apparently more keen on selling their star player to Mark Hughes’ team than Champions League rivals Chelsea.
However City, who are suddenly well and truly back in the transfer market after the takeover today by the Abu Dhabi United Group, have launched a late bid believed to be in excess of £30million for Berbatov, which has been accepted by Spurs, but United may have scuppered the deal.
United have consistently been linked with the Bulgarian all summer and, controversially, the latest reports are that the former Bayer Leverkusen forward is currently undergoing a medical with Manchester United at Old Trafford, despite Spurs not having permitted the medical.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Radio Marca has reported that Manchester City are now looking to make a late bid for 24-year-old Robinho, who has been at Real Madrid since 2005.
If Man City’s transfer move for Berbatov breaks down, then it is highly possible that City will then make a late move for the Real Madrid star, who has already stated his desire to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
