Ljungberg Wants West Ham Fight For Fourth Place
Freddie Ljungberg believes West Ham United can mount a challenge to clinch fourth place in the Premiership.
The Hammers were held to a 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, but the Londoners looked more dangerous than the hosts and deserved more than a point.
As such, the Sweden star is upbeat about Alan Curbishley’s side lifting themselves to set their sights towards breaking into the top-four. Currently Everton are fourth, but Liverpool can leapfrog them with a victory tonight against Aston Villa.
"I looked at the Premier League table before the weekend, and we were only seven points off fourth place with a game in hand over every club above us apart from Liverpool, and we play them in our next home game," the experienced winger, who joined the Hammers from Arsenal in the summer, is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
"I felt we were capable of closing the gap and getting into the fight for fourth place, and I still think that is possible even though it has opened up to nine points now.
"A couple of wins can really get you moving in the right direction, and it is very tight behind the top three.”
