Liverpool Target Real Madrid Defender Francisco Pavon – The Reds & Man Utd Interested In Teenager Jamie McCarthy

Liverpool Football Club are targeting Real Madrid defender Francisco Pavon, according to Daily Mirror. It is likely that the Spain international will join The Reds brigade in the January transfer window.

A pre-contract between the 26-year old and Liverpool FC is planned to be signed in January.

Liverpool are also said to be the latest big club following the progress of young Hamilton Academical's starlet Jamie McCarthy.

The 16-year-old is already a regular for the Scottish First Division Club, and scouts from Manchester United and Barcelona are also said to have watched the player, with the Irish Sun now claiming that Liverpool have joined the chase for the teen ace.

Much like Celtic star Aidan McGeady, McCarthy has declared his intention to play for the Republic of Ireland despite having being born and bred in Scotland.

He is expected to make his debut for Ireland's U-17 side early in the New Year.
