Liverpool & Sunderland-Target Diego Forlan Claims New Premiership Side’s Interest – Reveals £15m Exit Clause In Villarreal Deal

Liverpool, Sunderland AFC Premiership Transfer News

Villarreal striker Diego Forlan has disclosed that he has rejected a loan move to Sunderland and along with Liverpool, the Uruguay international, claims there is another Premiership side that has asked about his availability.

The 28-year-old former Manchester United striker, who scored 12 goals in 63 appearances for the Red Devils before moving to Spain in 2004, has also revealed that he has an exit clause in his new deal with the La Liga outfit of around £15million.

Forlan said in the Sunday Mirror: "It's not only Liverpool who've asked about signing me. In January I rejected a loan move to Sunderland. I also know another Premier League club is asking about my availability.

"I've signed a new deal with Villarreal and they have an exit clause of around £15million in my contract.”

While he believes he has proved himself in the La Liga, where he has scored 54 goals in 103 appearances, his Premiership experience had been unpleasant. But Forlan is now confident and said: "During my time in Spain I've demonstrated I can face up to big challenges."
