Liverpool To Return For Espanyol’s Riera?
With Sebastian Leto denied work permit much to the disappointment of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, the Reds transfer plans seem to have had some quick changes as the Merseysiders are now linked with a fresh offer for the Espanyol left-winger Albert Riera.
Benitez had apparently planned to use Argentine winger Leto prominently but the 21-year-old was refused a work permit by the Home Office, and has now been sent on a loan spell at Olympiacos.
The Reds are now said to be willing to make improved offer for Spain international Riera after having failed earlier, according to Sport.
The 26-year-old, who has had a loan spell at Manchester City, is also attracted by the Reds move. He is reported in the Spanish press as saying: "I listen to the news.
"To play in Liverpool is very attractive but also now I am very motivated in Espanyol."
