Liverpool Maintain Interest In Benfica’s Simao Sabrosa – The Reds Could Swap Djibril Cisse For Winger Sabrosa
Liverpool have rekindled interest in Portuguese winger Simao Sabrosa, who plays for Benfica.
In fact, the Reds had never forgotten the player, who they failed to sign narrowly in 2005 as Benfica had pulled out of the £10 million deal, at the proverbial last minute. But chief executive Rick Parry has now confirmed Rafa Benitez’s side are still interested in Sabrosa.
Parry also revealed that the Reds might work out a swap deal with France striker Djibril Cisse going the other direction.
Cisse is meanwhile on loan at Marseille, who want to begin talk to the Merseysiders on the flamboyant player’s future.
Parry told Portuguese daily A Bola: "There are players we are interested in and Simao is one. But we have made no contact with Benfica. A swap with Cisse could be a possibility."
