Liverpool Hand Trial To Southend Teenage Sensation
Premier League giants Liverpool have offered a trial to Southend United teenager Medi Abalimba as manager Rafa Benitez continues in his search to bring young talent to Anfield.
16-year-old Abalimba joined the decided to opt for the Shrimpers last season, despite reports of interest from several Premiership clubs, with the talented midfielder also offered a trial at Manchester United last year.
Abalimba will play in a reserve match for the Reds against Manchester City on Tuesday and will look to impress in front of Benitez and earn himself a dream move to the Merseyside club.
“Liverpool are having another look at Medi to see how he has improved,” Southend youth team manager Ricky Duncan told Echo.
“It is a good experience for him and it highlights some of the players we are starting to produce when the likes of Liverpool are interested in them.”
