Liverpool Boss Benitez Slams Everton Fans Chants
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his displeasure over 'disrespectful' chants from sections of the Everton support during the 207th Merseyside derby, which the Anfield side won 1-0 with Fernando Torres’ goal.
The Reds, who are now five points clear in the fourth place above David Moyes’ side, had also prevailed over the Toffees at Goodison Park earlier in the season, and thus have done the double over their city rivals for only the third time in the Premier League.
"I think it is more for our supporters and for the team because we have three more points and the gap is five points," said the Spaniard on the club's official website.
"I am sure some of the players will be very pleased because I do not like to hear some of the things I heard.
"It showed a lack of respect for some players. So I am really pleased, especially for some players.
"I am very pleased we did the double against Everton for our supporters and it was really important for the team and the club."
