Liverpool Boss Benitez Proud Of Quality As Reds Notch Up ‘Massive Total’ Of Goals Ahead Of Tottenham Clash
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is proud of his free-scoring side as they have netted 117 goals in all competitions this season, ahead of their trip to Tottenham on the final day of the season.
The Reds’ tally is the highest total in England and five clear of second-placed Arsenal, who are at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
“To have scored 117 goals this season is a massive total and clearly that's a positive from us. People have said we're a defensive side but that number shows the quality we have. Hopefully we can add a few more on Sunday,” the Spaniard is quoted as saying in Liverpool Echo.
Benitez is also expecting an open game at White Hart Lane with Spurs. He said: “It could be an end to end game. They have quality players and will be looking to win their last game in front of their own supporters so we know what to expect.
“From our point of view it's important to end the season with a win. With us playing one game a week of late it’s easy for me to pick a strong side and that will be the idea this weekend as well. We can reach 76 points with a victory and that's not a bad total, although clearly we need more in the future if we want to win the title.
“It's important the players show the right mentality on Sunday, to show that we have quality and, thinking about the future, to show we have winners. We try to win every game and it will be no different this weekend.”
