Striker Leroy Lita has left Reading to join Championship side Charlton on an initial month-long loan deal.

The England U-21 international had failed to get a regular place in Steve Coppell’s side this season, despite the Royals struggling.

Lita’s loan at the Valley could be extended until the end of the season if the Addicks find him impressive.

Lita, who had scored 14 goals in all competitions for the Royals during the 2006/07 campaign, is likely to go into Alan Pardew’s squad for their home game with Preston on Saturday.
