Finland International Antti Niemi looks set to leave Premier League club Fulham, with his agent revealing that his client has been requested for talks by Serie A giants Juventus.

36-year-old Niemi has been at Craven Cottage since joining from Southampton in 2006 and has made 62 appearances for the Cottagers, but is unsettled due to the arrival of Australian International Mark Schwarzer from Middlesbrough.

Niemi had previously been linked with Liverpool, but this was only as an alternative to Reds boss Rafa Benitez number one target Brazilian Diego Cavalieri, who has now signed for the Merseyside club.

The Finns agent Richard Cody has told setantasports.com that the I Bianconeri have contacted him about a possible move to Serie A.

“I’ve had a call from a representative acting on behalf of Juventus, asking me if Antti would be interested in meeting about a possible move to Italy,” Cody said.

“I said ‘of course he would be’, so now we are waiting for contact from Fulham or Juventus in order for that meeting to take place.

“Obviously Antti would be interested in a move to Juventus, it goes without saying what a big club they are.”

Cody also confirmed that there was truth behind Liverpool being linked with Niemi, while knowing nothing of the rumour linking his client with French side Rennes.

“We had several clubs interested in Antti, one of which was Liverpool, who wanted him if the deal for Diego Cavalieri didn’t go through,” he continued.

“However, they obviously got the Brazilian so that one has no further distance to run.

“As for the links to Rennes, I speak to Antti every day and neither of us know where that one came from.”
