Juventus Refuse To Confirm Interest In Liverpool's Alonso
Serie A giants are refusing to admit their widely reported interest in Liverpool’s Spanish International Xabi Alonso.
Juve have been linked with a move for midfielder Alonso all summer, with the money of the transfer already being earmarked to help sign Reds boss Rafa Benitez’s number one target, England International Gareth Barry from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
La Vecchia Signora chief officer Jean Claude Blanc has refused to confirm if 26-year-old Alonso is even a target for Juve boss Cladio Ranieri, and insists that Juve will take their time in signing any potential targets.
"We have never named names. It's an important decision and we'll consider it at length because the final choice must be within our budget," Jean Claude Blanc said.
"We spend the right time evaluating players. It will be an investment of between €10 and €30million (£8million - £23.7million).“
We will talk things over at length with Claudio Ranieri and his staff".
Alonso joined Liverpool from La Liga side Real Sociedad in 2004, and has made 110 appearances for the club, however he is surplus to requirements at Liverpool, as Rafa Benitez tries to bring his first Premier League title to Anfield.
