Joe Kinnear ‘Good Choice’ For Newcastle United
Joe Kinnear is a ‘good choice’ at Newcastle United, according to Magpies midfielder Danny Guthrie, who hailed the instant impact by the interim manager as the Tyneside club came back from two goals down to hold Everton to a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Former Liverpool player Guthrie was back in action for the Magpies after his three-match suspension, and he played his part for the Toon in a gritty display against the Toffees in Kinnear's first game in charge.
Guthrie told the Gazette: "Bringing a new manager in always give you a lift.
"The players have always came in and trained, and the feeling amongst the lads is good. There's been a lift."
The 21-year-old, who was signed by Kevin Keegan in the summer and then played under caretaker Chris Hughton following King Kev’s departure, added: "Three managers in three months sounds worse than it actually is, and I just come in and train as normal.”
"I knew him (Kinnear) from what he achieved at Wimbledon and Nottingham Forest,” stated Guthrie, who spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
"I was too young to watch Wimbledon, but I'm like everybody else, and I know what he has achieved.
"He has lots of experience, and he's has been a good choice.”
