Hull City v Wigan Athletic Premiership Preview: King To Sit Out Clash With Parent Club Wigan

Wigan Athletic, Hull City Premiership Match Previews

Hull City entertain Steve Bruce’s Wigan Athletic at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

Tigers manager Phil Brown will hope his Premier League debutantes can continue their good run of form. Which has seen them hit the heady heights of 5th in the Premiership after an opening day 2-1 win against Fulham and then earn a plucky draw against Blackburn Rovers last week at Ewood Park.

The Latics on the other hand are without a point and are second from bottom in the Premiership, having lost to West Ham United 2-1 in their opening fixture and then being unlucky to lose 1-0 to Chelsea at the JJB stadium last week. With Wigan boss Bruce eager to pick up his first points of the campaign on Saturday.

Hull have almost their full compliment of players to choose from ahead of this clash, with only Dutch International George Boateng doubtful with a thigh strain. Marlon King will not play against his parent club as part of the loan-deal that took him to Hull.

Wigan will be missing Ryan Taylor (knee), Chris Kirkland (back) and Erik Edman (knee), but could welcome back Austrian Paul Scharner, who should shake off a sprained ankle in time to face Hull. Bruce however, might be tempted to risk Kirkland, according to some reports.
