Hull Boss Brown Plays Down Newcastle Link
Hull City manager Phil Brown has played down talk of him leaving the KC Stadium for up for sale Newcastle United, with the Tigers boss insisting he has a massive job at the Premier League debutantes to do and that his future lies with the Yorkshire club.
The Magpies have an interim manager in Joe Kinnear, but recent reports linked them with a move for Brown on a permanent basis, with the Hull boss seen as one of the emerging management talents in the English football.
Brown has been in charge of Hull since 2006 and masterminded Hull’s first ever promotion into football’s top-flight last season, with the former Derby County boss putting together a side at the KC, which has already surprised most people with their impressive start to their first Premier League campaign. Highlighted by last weekends 2-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates.
However, Brown signed a new three-year deal with the Tigers on the opening weekend of the Premiership season and is happy to continue his good work at Hull.
“It is flattering to be linked with big clubs as it shows you must be doing well, but I am an honourable and loyal guy,” Brown told the Daily Mirror.
“I'm very proud to have been given the contract I've got at Hull and the way I see it, I've got a massive job to do here. My future is most definitely with Hull.”
