Premiership new-entrants Hull City have beaten Newcastle United and Everton to sign Kamil Zayatte on loan from Young Boys of Berne.

The 23-year-old Guinea defender had trained with the Magpies last week, while the Toffees also were reportedly interested in securing his services. But the Tigers have managed to capture the versatile international, who can play at right-back, centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, on a season’s loan.

The Tigers, who are keen on Manchester United’s young striker Fraizer Campbell, are also reported to have lined up Benfica's Ariza Makukula if they fail to get the 20-year-old, who is now speculated to be a part of a deal that will bring Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford.
