Halftime Update: Tottenham 1-0 Man United – Berbatov Scores For Spurs
Manchester United have a lot of work to do as they trail by a goal at halftime against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in their Premier League encounter.
Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov made an amazing run on the left channel but his deadly-looking square pass was cleared at the expense of a corner by United midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
However, Berbatov’s hard work paid dividends as the Bulgarian international sent the home side into the lead in the 21st minute.
Spurs right-winger Aaron Lennon produced a brilliant cross which Red Devils goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar had to stretch to push it away. However the Dutchman’s save was not enough as the ball travelled to Berbatov who had no problems, whatsoever, in scoring.
United’s ace Cristiano Ronaldo who was mostly kept at bay by the Spurs defenders, managed to create some space for himself in the 33rd minute to head Wes Brown’s perfect long cross from the right, only to see his header miss the target.
Berbatov continued to be a threat for United. This time the pumped up striker’s volley from the centre of the penalty area, off a Aaron Lennon cross, sailed over the crossbar.
