Halftime Update –Man City 1-2 Arsenal – Adebayor & Eduardo Fire Gunners
Arsenal lead Manchester City 2-1 at half time in their Premiership clash at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners are thus on track to inflict the first league defeat of the season at home on Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side.
Emmanuel Adebayor scored the opener after he was set up by Bacary Sagna in the 10th minute. The Togolese’s shot was half-blocked by Micah Richards, but the England defender couldn’t stop the ball from crossing the goal-line.
Eduardo scored a brilliant goal to double the score in the 26th minute. Gael Clichy sent in a cross from left wing which Adebayor cushioned with a header and saw the Croatian control the assist with a chest touch before smashing the ball home on first-time volley with his back towards Hart’s goal.
Man City immediately got one goal back as Corluka dispossessed Clichy on the right wing and passed to Gelson Fernandes in the box, for the last named to get them on the score-sheet in the 28th minute.
Hart made a good diving save off a header from Adebayor in the 31st minute after Sagna had made an accurate cross. Gunners skipper William Gallas came close to getting his angular shot past the City keeper in the 40th minute. City winger Martin Petrov missed the target towards the closing stages of the first half.
