Guardiola Tells Eto'o To Join Spurs So That Barca Land Berbatov

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United Premiership Transfer News

New Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has told Cameroon International Samuel Eto'o to either move to Tottenham Hotspur or stay at the Nou Camp for one more season.

Guardiola has already stated his desire to sign Spurs’ Bulgarian International Dimitar Berbatov, but cannot finance the move unless Eto’o is sold, with Tottenham being linked earlier in the summer with the prolific striker.

However, there have been no serious offers for Eto’o, so the only real possibility is an unlikely swap-deal, to bring Berbatov from White Hart Lane.

Berbatov has been the main target for Premier League Champions Manchester United, with Spurs reluctant to let him leave for Old Trafford, even though the Bulgarian favours a move to United so he can finally parade his talents in the Champions League.

AC Milan and Real Madrid have ruled themselves out of moves for either player, so with the big club options running out for both Berbatov and Eto’o, perhaps the idea of some sort of swap-deal is more likely.

While Guardiola has told Eto’o he has no future at Barca, Berbatov’s situation is far different, with Spurs manager Juande Ramos desperate to keep the forward at White Hart Lane, after two outstanding seasons in the Premiership.

Should Eto’o decide to stay and fight for his place at the Nou Camp, Ramos might be forced to let Berbatov leave for Old Trafford, but Barca will do everything they can to make sure Eto’o joins Tottenham, so they can bring Berbatov the other way.
