Arsenal Captain Gallas Happy To Start With A Win
Arsenal skipper William Gallas expressed his delight over his side’s opening win in the 2008-09 English Premier League campaign after a 1-0 success over West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium, today.
New boy Samir Nasri who joined the Gunners from Marseille for reported £12million fee, made a memorable debut to his Premier League career, scoring the all-important goal in the fourth minute of play.
French defender Gallas told Sky Sports: "It was our first game and I think we did a good job.”
"It was important to win the game. We were a bit nervous, especially they played well with the long ball, and it was not easy for us.”
"It was not easy for us but it was very good because we wanted to win our first game and start well.”
"I think we have a lot of hard work ahead of us because it is just the beginning of the season."
