Gallas Happy To Remain Arsenal Skipper
Despite all the criticism William Gallas faced in the course of the last season, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has kept faith in the defender to name him captain for the second consecutive season and the French international defender is looking forward to repay that trust.
Gallas’ frustration at Birmingham City in February, brought him all-round criticism. And it was speculated earlier in the summer that the former Chelsea player could lose the captain's arm-band. But Wenger did not make the change.
"I am very pleased to carry on as club captain this season," said Gallas.
"It was my first season as captain last year, and although I am 31 now, I am still learning.
"I really enjoyed the responsibility last season, everyone could see that, and I tried to do the best job I possibly could.
"It was a really positive experience and this season I have to use that, and carry on doing my best for the team.”
