Fulham Refuse New Deal Talks With Jimmy Bullard
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson insists the club have no intention of starting fresh contract talks with influential midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who helped keep the West Londoners in the Premier League last season.
Bullard who has returned from a serious knee injury has another two seasons on his present deal at Craven Cottage, and Fulham chief Mohamed Al-Fayed's stance is to only offer new contracts to players who enter the last year of their agreement.
However, Hodgson insisted that despite this Fulham had no intention of selling the former Wigan Athletic player.
"We have no intention of selling him, no desire to sell him, that's for certain," stated Hodgson.
"I believe, at the moment, most people understand the chairman's view on this. Given the amount of money he's given to me to spend on new players, he's reluctant to immediately start re-signing contracts that still have two years to go”.
"Jimmy understands that and also understands we want to keep him. Like every player as their contract comes to a conclusion, I'm sure we will be looking into it then”.
"Jimmy has been told the club is not prepared to renegotiate contracts which have two years to run. We will, of course, renegotiate contracts with one year to run."
