Fulham Close In On Everton's Johnson
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson remains confident that he can land England International Andy Johnson from Everton.
The Cottagers have already agreed an undisclosed fee for 27-year-old Johnson believed to be around £10million, but with Fulham now renegotiating payment terms due to concerns over an old knee injury of Johnson’s.
Hodgson has confirmed that talks are still ongoing with the Merseyside club, but has not spoken to officials from Fulham about Johnson’s proposed transfer from Goodison Park.
“I think the situation is still ongoing. The transfer negotiations are still going on as far as I know,” Hodgson told Sky Sports News.
“I haven't spoken to the chief executive today (Saturday) so I can't tell you more than that. He's the one negotiating with Everton.”
Hodgson then went on to say he believed the former Crystal Palace man would come to Craven Cottage.
Hodgson added “I think so. I've no reason to believe he won't.”
“Andy Johnson is a player with great quality. Wherever he's been he's done very, very well.
“He'll give us balance up front that we're looking for.”
