Former Liverpool Man Harry Kewell Joins Galatasaray On A Two Year Deal
Former Liverpool star Harry Kewell has put pen to paper on a two year contract with Turkish champions Galatasaray.
The Australian winger has been a free agent since being released by Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool in May.
"You could say it's a new chapter," Kewell said on his move to Istanbul.
"I wanted to move on and this is the best way. I can't wait to get started, it's just what I'm looking forward to, a new challenge."
Kewell who joined the Reds from Leeds had been linked to clubs like Roma, Spartak Moscow and Portsmouth, however it was Galatasaray that he finally chose.
Kewell, who was constantly plagued with injuries for five seasons, was given a warm welcome on reaching Istanbul. He claimed that he was delighted to join a club that had such a huge fan following.
"I know that that fans are passionate about sport and I love that," he said. "I can't wait to get more of it.
"There's a lot of talk about the Turkish league, it's coming up in the world.
"The national team has done well in the last couple of international tournaments and there's a lot of young talent here."
