According to Ariedo Braida, it did not take much to convince Mathieu Flamini to move to AC Milan.

The 24-year-old France midfielder will join the Serie A giants in the summer on a free transfer from Arsenal on a four-year deal, the Italian club confirmed yesterday.

“I can say that Flamini was a player Carlo Ancelotti really wanted and Milan is like a family, where decisions are made jointly,” director Braida said.

“Flamini isn’t an unknown player, just as Didier Drogba isn’t. I assume that several teams would have wanted him because his talent is well known.

“Although negotiations are never easy, it wasn’t hard to convince Flamini to join Milan.

“We are delighted that Mathieu has chosen Milan. He is a very good player and can offer a lot to the team.”

Flamini, who had an outstanding season at the Gunners to finish up his contract at the north-London club, reportedly snubbed Arsenal’s five-year £50,000-a-week deal to extend his stay with Arsene Wenger’s side.
