FIFA Tell Los Angeles Galaxy To Release David Beckham Whenever He Is Selected For England
Thanks to FIFA, David Beckham will be able to play in international friendlies for England next season as the world football’s governing body have told Los Angeles Galaxy to release the midfielder whenever he is selected for his country.
Earlier, LA Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas had declared that they will release the 32-year-old currently in his final season at Real Madrid, only for qualifiers and major tournaments.
A FIFA spokesman said: "The same rules apply for everybody - for all national associations, for any club, for any player.
"Players must be released for friendly or competitive games if they are on the international calendar and the required notice is given.
"The only difference in competitive and friendly games is regarding the time-frames that players must be available before the games. Under the regulations, all players are equal."
Beckham has come back into international fold after his superb form at Real for the past few weeks, forced Three Lions boss Steve McClaren to pick him for the first time since he took the reigns from Sven-Goran Eriksson after last summer’s World Cup.
