Everton To Swoop For Argentine International Milito, But Need To Sell Johnson To Fulham First

Wigan Athletic, Sunderland, Fulham, Everton Premiership Transfer News

Everton are preparing to make an offer for one-time Tottenham Hotspur target Diego Milito from La Liga side Real Zaragoza, but any offer depends on the transfer of England International Andy Johnson to Premier League rivals Fulham, according to The Guardian.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is believed to have already held talks with Zaragoza about bringing the 29-year-old Argentine International to Goodison Park, but need to complete the transfer of Johnson to Craven Cottage to raise the necessary funds for the transfer.

The transfer of Johnson (left) to the Cottagers for £13million was expected to go through last week, but a medical revealed an old knee injury, which has caused Fulham boss Roy Hodgson to renegotiate the deal.

The original deal would have seen Fulham make a £10.5million down-payment to the Toffees. With it rising to £13million based on appearances. However in light of the medical, Fulham now wish to make a reduction in the original payment, with Everton willing to negotiate, but not reduce drastically the fee for the forward, who is also wanted by Sunderland and Wigan Athletic.

It is also believed that Everton have given the West London club 48-hours to complete the signing of Johnson as they look to bring in Milito from the La Romareda.

Fulham have a history for being stringent with their medicals, with the club passing on the signing’s of John Carew and Marlon King when their medicals revealed concerns.
