Newcastle United, Everton Premiership Transfer News
Everton look set to sign Alan Smith from Newcastle United, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees boss David Moyes is apparently keen to bring the former Leeds United man to Goodison Park with the England international able to play various roles in attack.
The 27-year-old Yorkshireman had joined the Magpies last summer from Manchester United, but failed to impress.
And when Toon boss Kevin Keegan left him out of midweek friendly with PSV Eindhoven, speculation was rife that Smith is set to be sold, although the manager insisted later that his absence was because of an ankle problem.
