Everton To Rival Benfica In Pablo Aimar Hunt?
Everton are set to battle it out with Portuguese side Benfica to sign Real Zaragoza’s Argentine attacking-midfielder Pablo Aimar.
The Real Zaragoza winger is believed to be looking for action in English football after his club was relegated from La Liga last season.
Benfica are thought to head the race for Aimar, with Greek club Panathinaikos also heavily linked to the 29-year old, but the player’s agent has admitted that Aimar is hoping for a call from a Premier League side.
”There are proposals from Panathinaikos and Benfica, but I am awaiting a call from an English club,” Aimar’s agent Gustavo Mascardi told Record.
”Pablo is excited about playing for Benfica and is pleased the club are showing real interest,” Aimar’s father Ricardo Aimar told O Jogo.
“(Pablo) has also spoken with people from England.”
Everton are the only Premier League club to be linked with the Argentine, however there has been no confirmation from Goodison Park.
